Design the 2017 Hunter Juniors Representative Uniform!

Following feedback from Clubs, the Hunter Regional Committee will be running a competition to design the 2017 Representative Uniforms.

The competition will open from now and will close at 5pm on Monday 9th January and will be judged by the Regional Committee at their first meeting of 2017. There will be a prize for the winning entry.

There following criteria need to be adhered to:
1. The jumper must not clash with the Central Coast or other regions that we play against
2. The jumper must be different to our clubs designs
3. The jumper should incorporate the representative colours that we have used in the past
(photos of representative matches can be found on our Facebook page)

Attached is a blank jersey template to assist with designs.

Position Vacant – Umpire Development Co-ordinator – Northern NSW

afl-nswactAFL NSW/ACT is currently calling for applications for the newly created part-time role of Umpire Development Co-ordinator, Northern NSW.

The position involves the management and execution of all duties related to the effective delivery of all initiatives and activities around the recruitment, education and retention of umpires within the AFL NSW/ACT’s Northern NSW Region (spanning from the Central Coast to Coffs Harbour and west to Tamworth). The AFL is strongly committed to ensuring that development and accreditation programs are conducted to maximise the development of umpires for our game.

2017 AFLNSWACT Female Academy – Hunter/Central Coast Academy

AFL 2016 Media - Youth Girls ChampionshipsAFLNSWACT are excited to announce details regarding the second year of their Female Academies.

These academies will provide ongoing, high level and competitive training for our female talent providing both a clear and defined talent pathway and also helping to grow and develop our community football. The academies are open to any females aged no younger than 14 as of the 1st January 2017. These academies will be run by AFL NSW/ACT as part of it’s talent development program, and will be comprised of two age groups Womens (Over 18), and Youth Girls (between 14-18).
Locally, in 2016 we had one player selected for the NSW U18 YG Squad, 3 players selected for the U18 YG Sydney Swans Team v GWS Giants, 4 players selected for the Women’s Sydney Swans Team v GWS Giants, and 2 players attended the GWS Women’s draft combine.

Key dates for the Hunter/Central Coast Academy are as follows:
• Pre-Christmas training sessions Nov 28, Dec 5 & Dec 12, 6.00pm-7.30pm at Avondale College playing fields, 582 Freemans Drive Cooranbong
• 4-week trial process (Jan 30 – Feb 23) with Academy selection on Fri 24th / Sat 25th Feb 2017.
• Academies will officially begin from Monday 30th January and run through until Monday 4th August
• 2 age groups: YG’s (14-18) and Opens

Building up to the Academy season, optional training sessions will be held prior to Christmas for all players wanting to get a head start for 2017. These training sessions will be predominately skills based with some elements of fitness.

AFL Hunter Coast Board Nominations

In Preparation for the AFL Hunter Coast AGM, nominations are now being called for the AFL Hunter Coast Board.

There are two positions to be elected by members at the 2016 AGM. One of these positions has the portfolio responsibility of Regional Committee Chair for the Hunter Junior AFL. Elected board members will serve a two year term. Please note that the closing date for applications to be returned will be 5pm, November 11 2016.

The AFL Hunter Coast AGM will be held on Sunday, December 11, at the AFL Office in Morisset. The AGM will commence at 10am, and be followed by a 2017 Planning Session, which is expected to conclude by 12pm.

The AGM Agenda and related documents will be provided closer to the date, pursuant to the AFL Hunter Coast Constitution.
